LUXURY VINYL?
New manufacturing techniques and new materials have created a whole new category of flooring – Luxury Vinyl. Luxury vinyl is distinct and unique from other vinyl goods, not only in how it's manufactured, but in the aesthetics and applications. Luxury Vinyl Tile (LVT) and Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) are the two types of luxury vinyl floors mainly differentiated by their shape and size. Through realistic replications of popular flooring styles like wood, stone and tile, luxury vinyl floors provide a versatile, durable flooring option that is water resistant and easy to maintain. These floors are a perfect option for spaces in the home where hardwood or carpet may not be appropriate such as basements and bathrooms.
The ability to replicate real hardwood floors and stone floors using advanced photographic technologies is the foundation of luxury vinyl flooring systems. There are four distinct layers fused together to produce the final product: a resilient vinyl backing, a vinyl color layer, a photographic film layer and a urethane or aluminium oxide top layer. The protective top layer (also called the wear layer or mil layer) is very important to the durability of the product. Quality products will have as high as a 40 mil layer. Commercial applications can successfully utilize 20 mil or above. Lower mil layers are available, but should be only used for light traffic applications.

INSTALLATION OPTIONS
One big advantage of luxury vinyl is that it can be installed almost anywhere, including basements and rooms prone to water and moisture. You can either choose to glue the vinyl down directly to the subfloor using a pressure sensitive adhesive, or float it over existing flooring using patented interlock systems. LVT floors are more forgiving than other flooring materials when installing over floors which are not perfectly level. When installed correctly you will have a beautiful, natural looking, gap free floor.
